Voices on the Coast – 19-22 July

There are still tickets to the two student days at USC Sunshine Coast, but there are also a range of Voices Plus events that may interest many SCBWI members.

  • Free workshops with Nick Earls (Maroochydore Library) and Mandy Ord (Cooroy Library) on Wednesday 19 July. Bookings essential.
  • Qld Writers Centre session - Why you should be reading YA (Young Adult), Thursday 20 July 2017, 12.00pm-1.00pm, $14, USC Sunshine Coast
  • Grab ‘em, grow ‘em, keep ‘em:  Keep boys reading at any age. Authors Mick Elliott, Jack Heath and Mark Smith discuss how to grab, keep and grow boys into reading. Thursday 20 July 2017 5.15pm-6.15pm | $10, Immanuel Lutheran College
  • Literary Gourmet Feasting, Festival Launch - A taste of the Festival. Celebrate with authors, illustrators and poets. Finger food, dinner & drinks. Thursday 20 July 2017 6.30pm | $55, Immanuel Lutheran College
  • Literary Breakfast with Caroline Jane. In 2014, Caroline, fifth great niece of legendary author Jane Austen, launched the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation to increase literacy rates in the world’s poorest communities. Saturday 22 July 2017 7.30am | $40, Maroochy Surf Club, Maroochydore

Volunteering – if you would like to be a volunteer for the student sessions for Voices on the Coast please contact Kelly in the Voices office. This is a great opportunity to listen to author sessions across the two days. Tasks include taking tickets at the door for each session and then attending the session as an adult supervisor.
