I’m delighted that our guest speaker will be Jen Storer. Jen is a best-selling author of chapter books, junior fiction and novels. She wrote the best-selling Truly Tan series, The Accidental Princess and the acclaimed gothic fantasy, Tensy Farlow and the home for Mislaid Children. Her latest series for preteens is the Crystal Bay Girls. Jen is currently working on the next Truly Tan books as well as a comedy series for boys. She is published by Penguin and Harper Collins. Jen will be speaking about Creating Quirky Characters.
We are also delighted to have Wendy Orr and Serena Geddes as our member speakers.
Wendy Orr is the internationally published and award-winning author of more than 30 books, ranging from picture books to adult. In 2008 Nim’s Island was released as a Hollywood feature film starring Jodie Foster, Abigail Breslin and Gerard Butler; Return to Nim’s Island, based on Nim at Sea and starring Bindi Irwin as Nim, followed in 2013. The third in the series, Rescue on Nim’s Island, was published July 2014 and is in development as a film. Wendy’s topic is Setting Your Character Free: from Book to Film and Back Again.
Serena Geddes spent six years working as an artist for Walt Disney Animation, including working on The Lion King sequels. In 2009 she started illustrating picture books and over the past five years has illustrated twenty-five books ranging from board books to picture books and junior novel series.
